Parallel, a collection of soft seating and coordinating tables from Allsteel Inc., has won the Architizer A+Award for furniture in the contract category. The prestigious accolade, bestowed by an illustrious jury of architects, designers, cultural thought leaders and developers, will be presented at the Fourth Annual A+Awards Gala, a red-carpet event at the Highline Stages in New York City on May 12, 2016. Parallel will also be featured in a book of A+Award winners to be published by Phaidon.
Created in partnership with Los Angeles–based designer Chris Adamick, the Parallel collection offers a contemporary take on classic reception furniture. The portfolio comprises a Club Chair, Club Plus Lounge, Sofa, and Side and Coffee Tables—modern pieces that provide wider-ranging functionality than their traditional counterparts while preserving a clean and elegantly tailored look that reflects the influence of residential design on the workplace. The A+Award acknowledges the masterful way Parallel incorporates many thoughtful, integrated design elements that enhance the furniture’s adaptability while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.
