CHICAGO – June 13, 2016 – The new Metta side chair from Gunlocke evolved from a sketch of a steam-bent wood chair into an upscale, mixed-material seating option. Designed by Alyssa Coletti of Nonfiction Creative, Metta combines a slim metal frame with wood and upholstery, lending subtle lines and curves to any space it inhabits, from private offices to lobbies to collaborative spaces. Metta is the fourth seating option Coletti has designed for Gunlocke since 2014.

Gunlocke is introducing Metta to the A&D industry at NeoCon 2016, June 13-15, in showroom #1126 at theMART in Chicago.

Inspired by cupped hands, Metta’s supple seat is designed to hold the user with angled support for maximum comfort. Its minimal, undulating lines provide a visual cue as to how it supports its users, artfully aligning form and function.

Allowing designers to customize the chair’s appearance to their specific needs, Metta’s metal frame is available with several upholstery options, including a fully upholstered seat and back; exposed plywood back and seat bottom with upholstered inside back and seat; and dual upholstery, allowing for different textiles or leathers on the inside and outside. All options feature upholstered side arms matching the inner fabric or leather.

Veneer selections include quarter cut walnut, cherry, maple or rift cut oak. Gunlocke’s full range of fabrics and leathers are available for upholstery.
