Geneva Emphasizes on Comfort With a Light-Scale Design

WAYLAND, NEW YORK – March 16, 2018 – A modern approach to seating, Geneva marries a slim, sculptured aesthetic with comfort and ergonomics. Designer Kevin Stark approached Geneva as practical, yet a beautifully sculpted seating line at home in formal and casual settings.

“The simplicity is complementary,” said Stark. “I started with a plywood shell with an exquisite contour, which added to the sophistication of the chair. Comfort was critical, so the team at Gunlocke and I worked together to achieve an initial softness when a user sits, but enough support to maintain a satisfying experience.”

The details set Geneva apart. The top stitch detail of both the tight cushion and pillow cushion is simple, yet delicate. The arms, polished aluminum, are fit with a raised, textured polyurethane insert, which not only protects the front of the arms, but is another comfort feature for the user.

To add to the classic, jeweled look of the chair, Stark designed the arms to wrap, ever-so-slightly around the back of the chair, refining the overall look of the piece when approached from behind.

“Gunlocke grew up as a seating company,” noted Stark. “I was confident in their capabilities, their craftsmanship, their upholstery techniques. They brought my vision to life.”

Geneva is available in a high-back or mid-back swivel, in both a tight and pillow cushion. The arms come in polished aluminum with a polyurethane insert, or black polyurethane. Two five-star bases can be specified in black or polished aluminum. For a more distinctive look, designers can order a dual upholstered model.
