Strengthening our commitment to responsible manufacturing and sustainable practices

(MUSCATINE, IA) – Allsteel, its parent company HNI, and sister companies have released their 2018 social responsibility report outlining efforts made by each brand under the HNI umbrella.

With a unique member-owner culture and internal vision, HNI and its brands have worked together to strengthen their commitment to responsible manufacturing and sustainable practices. While this culture is supported and celebrated internally, the company feels that bringing awareness of its efforts to the industry and its customers will help foster practices beyond these brands.

Below are some noteworthy efforts that support Allsteel’s ongoing commitment to sustainability:

  • Allsteel and other HNI brands have over 275+ product lines that are Indoor Advantage™ Gold and BIFMA level certified, a practice that began in 2006 when the company was among the first in the industry to certify its products.

  • From 2012-2017, our US-based furniture operations saw a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 20% reduction in electricity consumption per unit produced.

  • Allsteel’s Los Angeles showroom was the first project in the world to achieve WELL Certified™ Gold in the Retail Pilot Program and many of the HNI brands’ furniture products contribute to WELL Building projects.

In line with these efforts, Allsteel has been recognized by outside organizations as a great place to work.

The social responsibility report, which was released on 2/18/2019, is the latest news surrounding Allsteel and HNI’s efforts towards social and environmental responsibility. The report is available on the Allsteel website and includes statistics and goals for the future.
