(MUSCATINE, IA) – Evo, the latest development in ergonomic comfort from Allsteel Inc., a leader in workplace furnishings, is a seating collection for both conference and workstations, with a scale and proportion that is beautifully clean and simple, combining rounded edges and straight lines. Its design complements (not competes with) the interior space where it’s positioned. Designed in collaboration with Bruce Fifield of Milan-based Studio Fifield, Evo is the result of insights that focus on a user-centric approach and the end result is a product that is purposefully designed to achieve the maximum user experience.

Today’s workplace behaviors are rapidly changing. Users are no longer tethered to their desk as they’re able to move freely from their workstation to conference rooms, huddle areas and touch-down zones to best support the activity at hand. Focused work and tasking behaviors are just as likely to occur at one’s workstation as they are in a conference room and the time spent in these areas can range from 30 minutes to a full day. Workers need a chair that can support the ever-changing needs of their daily tasks. This premise led to the development of Evo which stands for the evolution of workplace ergonomics.

Evo’s weight activated mechanism seamlessly bridges comfort and automatic adjustment, supporting every user that falls within the 5th to 95th percentile. Micro-adjustments are less likely to happen when users work in multiple settings throughout the day, so the design provides support for a multitude of users and applications all day.

Evo’s intuitive controls work through three simple user engagements, all of which are clearly labeled with thoughtful iconography (so you know what you’re adjusting, before you adjust) – height adjustment, seat depth and tilt lock. Height adjustment and seat slide are both located on the right side of the user, when in a seated position for ease of access. Seat height allows for smooth vertical adjustment and seat slide provides an ample range of horizontal seat adjustment. On the left side of the user is Evo’s tilt-lock engagement, which can be actuated to promote upright-engaged tasking postures when reclining is not desired. Finally, the Evo task chairs have an optional lumbar component when a more active means of adjustment is required for lower back support. This component is unique versus any other lumbar support mechanisms in that it’s designed as two pieces to allow for suspended and dynamic movement. It is removable and can be added for post-purchase application. As an additional feature, Evo offers several arm options – from armless, to fixed cast aluminum, to 4D adjustable – there’s an option for any application or posture.

The mesh back task chair features a premium mesh material which has a unique woven technology that combines two critical elements – monofilament and multifilament fibers – both of which actively contribute to maintaining high strength and breathability while offering a soft, fabric-like touch. To complement this material, Evo is also available in a fully upholstered mid-back that excels in conferencing-type applications. Standard with Evo, accent thread option is available on the seat, and for our conference models it is available on both the seat and back.

From its clean and rich, minimal design that complements architecture to its functional and intuitive features, Evo offers the ultimate in ergonomic comfort and intuitive usability of any mesh task chair on the market today.
