(MUSCATINE, IA – June 2019) – Allsteel Inc. and The Gunlocke Company LLC, leading office furniture manufacturers and sister brands under HNI Corporation, proudly announce that their shared Chicago showroom, located in the Merchandise Mart, has achieved WELL Certified™ Gold in the Retail Pilot Program. The 20,000-square-foot, multi-brand Allsteel-Gunlocke showroom is the first furniture showroom in the Merchandise Mart to achieve WELL Certified™ Gold.
“The Allsteel-Gunlocke Chicago showroom is one of six spaces in Chicago that is WELL Certified™ and the first to achieve WELL Certified™ Gold in the Retail Pilot in Chicago,” said Courtney Moline, Sustainability Manager at Allsteel.
The WELL Building Standard™ is the first certification program to use evidence-based metrics to determine how the design, construction, maintenance and operations of a building support the health and wellness of its occupants. Certification is awarded at one of three levels—Silver, Gold, or Platinum—using seven categories of impact relevant to human health and well-being in the built environment: Air, Light, Nourishment, Water, Fitness, Mind and Comfort.
The Chicago showroom is Gunlocke’s first and Allsteel’s third space to achieve WELL Certified™ Gold in the Retail Pilot. Other spaces were the Allsteel Los Angeles and Boston showrooms, which are both WELL Certified™ Gold.
